Backup Reliability
Your data backup reliability is critical to your practice!
Are you prepared in case of a natural disaster? A system failure?
Even a complete server crash? Without a reliable backup of your data,
your practice and its patients are at risk. We have recently encountered
several practices that thought they were backing up their data effeciently, only
to find out when they needed to restore it, their data was defective or incomplete. |

How do you know if your backup is reliable?
Restore your data to another location and test the validity of the data.
This usually requires the services of your network tech and should be done at
least once a month.
Realize that backup tapes wear out depending on how often they are used in rotation,
the quality of the tape in question, and the quality of the machine used to backup.
Old tapes should be dated and archived after six months of use, new ones being purchased
to replace those archived. It is recommended that you have at least five backups in your tape rotation.
